According to sources,Penelope Cruz plays a woman fighting breast cancer in a movie titled ''MaMa''.The actress foegoes her usual glamorous appearance and looks unrecognisable as she bares her body and sport a shaven head for the heartbreaking role.The film was released in Spain last year but is now set for worldwide release.Talking to a radio show last year,the 41 year old star said that taking on the role was incredibly important to her.She said ''This is one of the most wonderful character that i will ever be offered to play.I fell in love with the story of this woman,who is like a goddess,a sage''.The Spanish actress plays Magda in the movie,a gutsy unemployed teacher with a young son who faces her cancer diagnosis with optimism and courage.She said further ''It was very important to me to take risks and at no time did i worry if i looked beautiful,was ugly or very ugly.it is a tribute to all women who face this disease''.Meanwhile she is set to star in an upcoming movie,Escobar,alongside her husband Javier Bardem.It tells the story of a journalist who strikes up a romantic relationship with notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar,{Bardem}.It's not the first time the power couple have starred in a film together.The pair both appeared in a 2008 movie,Vicky Cristina Barcelona,alongside Scarlett Johansson..More photos below.
