 U.S imposes sanctions on former Congo President Joseph Kabila The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila for his support of ‌Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and for fueling political instability in Congo's troubled east. The U.S. Treasury Department said M23 and its political-military arm, the Congo River Alliance (AFC), had been stoking violent conflict in eastern DRC, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians and a mass displacement crisis. Treasury said Kabila had provided financial support to the ​AFC in order to influence the political situation in eastern DRC, while encouraging DRC troops to defect and join AFC forces. ​It said Kabila was working to regain influence over the government by backing a candidate opposed to the current ⁠leader. KOGI STATE GOVERNOR SACKS ALL THEIR PERMANENT SECRETARIES & HEAD OF PARASTATALS TODAY.

                   Alhaji Yahaya Bello,the Governor of Kogi state today monday directed all the permanent secretaries and heads of parastatals in the state civil service to immediately proceed on compulsory leave.A statement issued by the governor's Chief Press Secretary,Kingsley Fanwo,said the state Accountant General has been relieved of his position,while his second in command will proceed on 30 days compulsory leave.The statement reads ''I wish to confirm that His Excellency,Alhaji Yahaya Bello has directed that all permanent secretaries,heads of administration aare to go on compulsory leve with immediate effect.The only exemptions to this category are people on acting capacity and the permanent secretary,government house.Also the Accountant General has been relieved of his position,while the second in command will proceed on 30 days compulsory leave.At the local government level,the Directors of Local Government {DLGs},treasurers,education secretaries and cashiers are also to proceed on compulsory leave''.One more photo below.
