 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. THE NIGERIA POLICE ENGAGED IN A GUN BATTLE WITH SOME BANDITS YESTERDAY,IN KADUNA.

                       On the 18th of February,2016,that is yesterday thursday,at 1:00pm the Nigerian Police received a distress call that armed robbers were operating along Gwagwada Road ,Kaduna State.Nigeria Police Force SARS operatives moved to the area and engaged the bandits in a gun battle.One of the suspects Mohammed Sani,of Bakane in Katsina State was arrested while others escaped into the bush.An AK-47 rifle with three fully loaded magazines was recovered from the suspect.Then on the 17th of  February,at 11:45am,Anti kidnapping Unit operatives investigating a case of kidnapping arrested one Tamuno Fubara and four other suspected kidnappers/armed robbers at Abuloma and Choba axis of River State,who are all members of an eight man gang.During a search of their premises four AK-47 rifles were recovered,one hundred and twenty rounds of 7.62mm calibre ammunition and one 75HP engine boat used to ferry victims across the waterways were also recovered.Investigation in the two cases are still ongoing.One more photo below.
