 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment. U.N SECRETARY GENERAL BAN KI-MOOM,ARRIVED BURUNDI TODAY,TO PREVENT FURTHER POLITICAL CONFLICTS.

                     United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moom has arrived in Burundi to try to facilitate a deal to prevent a political conflict from escalating into a wider ethnic conflict.Burundi has been plagued by violence since April last year after President Pierre Nkurunziza declared his bid for a controversial third term in office,one which he went on to win in the July poll.More than 400 people have been killed in the violence while thousands of others have fled to neighbouring countries.The UN is under growing pressure to show it can halt the violence,two decades after the 1994 genocide of ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus by the Hutu majority in neighbouring Rwanda,which has a similar ethnic make-up as Burundi.More photos below.
