NAF INTENSIFIES AIRPOWER CAMPAIGN, STRENGTHENS AIR PRESENCE IN SOKOTO TO DENY TERRORISTS FREEDOM OF ACTION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its airpower campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West, with a strengthened air presence in Sokoto State to support ongoing joint security operations. The initiative reflects the Service’s determination to sustain pressure on hostile elements, enhance aerial surveillance and maintain the capacity for rapid response to emerging threats, while providing effective air support to ground forces operating within the Joint Operations Area. The strengthened air presence is particularly significant in the fight against asymmetric threats, where terrorists and bandits exploit difficult terrain, mobility and concealment to evade ground forces. I just got a report that Fifa's new President Gianni Infantino is in South Sudan on his first international trip since taking over as the head of the world football organization last month.The trip also coincides with his birthday,and he plans to celebrate it by watching the world youngest nation play against Benin in an African Cup of Nations' qualifier.Gianni Infantino arrived in Juba today morning,where he opened the office of the South Sudanese Football Association.The FIFA chief is expected to meet South Sudan's President Salva Kiir later before attending the country's AFCON qualifier duel against Benin.South Sudanese officials dressed Infantino in traditional regalia and made him dance.The FIFA president was also presented with a cake by his hosts to celebrate his 46th birthday.More photos below.
