 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LASPEMA,IS SET TO SANITIZE THE CAR WASH BUSINESS IN LAGOS STATE.

                The Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority {LASPEMA} has reiterated its resolved to sanitize the car wash business in the state,pledging that all necessary measures will be taken to ensue that such business ventures comply with planning regulations and environmental laws.Engineer Olarenwaju Kazeem,the Acting Generak Manager of the Agency,who disclosed this recently while receiving the report of an assessment team at his office in Alausa,Ikeja,enjoined all individuals involved in the car wash business to abide by the state' environmental rules and regulations in order not to run foul of the law.He disclosed that a team of senior field officers from the Agency had embarked on the monitoring of the activities of car wash operators within the metropolis to assess the import of their operations on the environment particularly as it affects government's resolve to deliver on well planned and healthy environment for all residents.Earlier,Mrs Taiwo Kolaa-Oguniade,leader of the team,said an assessment exercise was carried out by officers in Alimosho,Ojodu,Ifako-Ijaiye and Amuwo-Odofin Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the State,among others.She stated that their findings revealed that ,most car wash operators visited had no evidence of permit which contravenes planning regulations neither do they make adequate provision for security infrastructure which also negates the Lagos State standard operating procedure.Kola-Oguniade further disclosed that during the exercise,it was observed that majority of the car wash operators did not comply with the standard operating rules stipulated by the agency which include the provision of drainage facilities for proper discharge of waste water.More photos below.
