 Three dead as gas explosion rocks Lagos Three persons have died as gas explosion rocked Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon. A 50kg Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cylinder was said to have exploded at the frontage of a row of shops at Abule Pan, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ibeju Lekki. The gas explosion occurred around 3:34pm on Tuesday. Loud bang was heard in the area with balls of fire enveloping the atmosphere, leading to pandemonium in the area when the gas explosion occurred. The Director/CEO, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Margaret Adeseye in a statement said the explosion involved LNG (industrial gas) cylinder of about 50kg assembled at the frontage of a row of shops. Adeseye said the Lekki Phase II Fire Station of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services complemented by Health Environment officials, military officials, Federal Road Safety Corps officials and Ibeju Lekki Local Government joined hands to combat the inferno. NIGERIA & SWITZERLAND,HAVE SIGNED AN AGREEMENT THAT PAVES WAY FOR THE RETURN OF $300 MILLION ABACHA LOOT.

                        Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo said yesterday tuesday that Nigeria and Switzerland have signed an agreement that paves the way for the return of more that $300 million confiscated from the family of the Nigeria's former military ruler,Sani Abacha.Laolu Akande,a spokesman for Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,said in an emailed statement that Nigeria's attorney general signed a letter of intent,under the terms of which Switzerland will award Nigeria $321 million acquired by the Abacha family.Swiss authorities said the letter of intent was also signed by its head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs,Didier Burkhalter and marks an important step toward the return of assets monitored by the world bank.Transparency International,a corruption watchdog,has accused Abacha of stealing up to $5 billion of public money during the five years he ran Nigeria as president from 1993 until his death in 1998.More photos below.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
