NAF INTENSIFIES AIRPOWER CAMPAIGN, STRENGTHENS AIR PRESENCE IN SOKOTO TO DENY TERRORISTS FREEDOM OF ACTION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its airpower campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West, with a strengthened air presence in Sokoto State to support ongoing joint security operations. The initiative reflects the Service’s determination to sustain pressure on hostile elements, enhance aerial surveillance and maintain the capacity for rapid response to emerging threats, while providing effective air support to ground forces operating within the Joint Operations Area. The strengthened air presence is particularly significant in the fight against asymmetric threats, where terrorists and bandits exploit difficult terrain, mobility and concealment to evade ground forces. As the ongoing clearance and rescue operation gained momentum,troops of 28 Task Force Brigade have successfully cleared enclaves of Boko Haram terrorists along Galtha Baba,Galtha Musa,B ulakurma,Shatimari,Chukruk,Bulangaje,and Disa villages.During the operation,one Boko Haram terrorist was captured alive and 3 motorcycles,bags of grains,their flags and uniforms were recovered.Other items incude suicide bomber's hijab,mobile phone and 1 Dane gun,as well as foodstufs and cooking utensils.The troops also rescued 15 persons that were held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area.Unfortunately,two armoured fighting vehicles {AFVs} entered an Improvised Explosive Device {IED}.However,the formation did not sustain any human casualty and the damage to the AFVs was minimal.The captured terrorist is being interrogated and would soon betaken to the relevant agencies for prosecution.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.More photos below.
