U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates. As the ongoing clearance and rescue operation gained momentum,troops of 28 Task Force Brigade have successfully cleared enclaves of Boko Haram terrorists along Galtha Baba,Galtha Musa,B ulakurma,Shatimari,Chukruk,Bulangaje,and Disa villages.During the operation,one Boko Haram terrorist was captured alive and 3 motorcycles,bags of grains,their flags and uniforms were recovered.Other items incude suicide bomber's hijab,mobile phone and 1 Dane gun,as well as foodstufs and cooking utensils.The troops also rescued 15 persons that were held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area.Unfortunately,two armoured fighting vehicles {AFVs} entered an Improvised Explosive Device {IED}.However,the formation did not sustain any human casualty and the damage to the AFVs was minimal.The captured terrorist is being interrogated and would soon betaken to the relevant agencies for prosecution.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.More photos below.
