 UN says 53 Congolese refugees have died in Burundi More than 50 refugees fleeing fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have died in neighbouring Burundi, the United Nations Refugee Agency told Reuters late on Friday. Of a total 53 deaths recorded, 25 people died due to a cholera outbreak, the agency said, while six others died from anemia and other complications related to malnutrition, it said. The U.N. said it was working with the health ministry and other partners to investigate the cause of the other deaths. More than 100,000 Congolese have sought refuge in Burundi since fighting near the border intensified in early December and rebels seized the town of Uvira, the UNHCR said. Jean Jacques Purusi, governor of South Kivu province where Uvira is located, described the situation in Burundi as "misery" and "a crisis completely forgotten by the international community and media." A UNITED STATES AIRLINE IN NIGERIA,WILL STOP OPERATION FROM NEXT MONTH.

                From next month United Airlines is closing up in Nigeria,citing weakness in the energy sector and difficulty in collecting money from tickets sold in the country.The airline currently operates a daily flight from Houston to Lagos.The route has reportedly underachieved for years but has been kept alive because of its importance to Texas-based customers,United Continental Holdings Inc,said in a note to employees on wednesday.The last flightt will be June 30,after which Delta Ail Lines Inc,will be the only major United States carrier flying to Africa,One more photo below.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
