 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. IGP WARNS POLICEMEN AGAINST EXTORTING,HARASSMENT OVER TINTED GLASS PERMIT+EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR RE-VALIDATION.

                        As the Nigeria Police High Command extends the deadline for revalidation of tinted glass permit and firearms licence to 31st July,2016,the Inspector General of Police,IGP Solomon E. Arase,fdc,NPM,has directed all State Commands Commissioners of Police to stay enforcement of law on tinted glass permit and firearms licence until the expiration of the deadline.The IGP,who restated that revalidation of tinted glass permit is free  of charge,warned Policemen against extortion and harassment of motorists over revalidating their permits and licences.He,therefore,urged members of the public who are yet to obtain the automated tinted glass permit and firearms licence to seize the opportunity of the extension to complete necessary formalities for them to key into the electronic platform.The IGP wishes to reassure the public of the commitment of the Force to the provision of round-the-clock security for the teeming citizens of the country.Citizens are further enjoined to continue to support and assist the Police in its constitutional task of safeguarding the nation-ACP Olabisi Kolawole,Force Public Relations Officer,Force Headquarters,Abuja.One more photo below.
