NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT. Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination. A reinforcement team from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. Yesterday monday night,President Buhari hosted members of the National Assembly and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress to a dinner.The occasion was also used to smooth the working relationship between the executive and the legislative.President Buhari urge the Senates to hasten the passage of 5 critical bills which will help domesticate agreements signed with other countries,Bill to prevent and prohibition of money laundering Act,the FCT appropriation Act and also the statutory budget of National Assembly commission.Along with the 30 critical bills on their legislative agenda,all these bills once passed and signed into law will improve the standard of living and help rebuild our economy so that Nigerians cab feel the impact of the government at all levels.More photos below.
