World’s Youngest Reigning Monarch , King Oyo, Dies at 34 King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the traditional ruler of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch after ascending the throne at three, has died at the age of 34. The monarch reportedly died on Thursday, with the Prime Minister of the Tooro Kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announcing his death on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. However, Ugandan media reports quoted a government minister as saying that King Oyo had been critically ill and was receiving medical treatment in the United States. Reacting to the development, Akiiki described the monarch’s death as a major loss to the royal family and the people of Tooro. He urged members of the kingdom to remain united and calm while mourning the traditional ruler. Uganda's opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye remanded to a maximun security prison in Kampala city today wednesday after being charged for treason and will return to court June 1st.Besigye briefly appeared organized protests against President Yoweri Museveni.Treason has a maximum penalty of death upon conviction.Besigye will return to court on June 1.Besigye came second in presidential elections held in February,but rejected the official results as fraudulent and called for an international audit of the results,one of the reasons cited for charging him with treason.
