 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023.                  Pastor Kumuyi of Deeper Life Bible Church,who visited Warri for one day programme tagged ''Following a Life Transforming Example'',said the situation in the volatile oil-rich region should not be a win win affairs''.During the programme which was organised by the Deeper Life Bible Church at the Warri township stadium,Kumuyi said ''The solution to the crisis in the Niger Delta is dialogue.Stakeholders should reason together and see a way forward instead of accusing each other.What we are interested in is how to solve the problem;what are the expectations of both sides so that we can move forward.President Buhari has another three years in office,sometimes it depends on somebody's approach,so let us not build the evaluation on his one year in office.Nigerians believe we could have achieved something better than where we are presently as a country.I do hope we are not going to remain in our present position' we want to move forward as a nation and that is what people are saying.I join our people to say the economy is sliding,but i know that our country is going to move forward from where we are now with prayers and with us being responsible''.One more photo below.
