 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.                                  The Nigeria Police has Premiered its first Television series entitled ''Beyond Your Sight'' on the 7th June,2016 at International Conference Center,Abuja.The TV series was produced and directed by Award winning movie producer Lancelot Odua Imasuen and it featured household brands like Segun Arinze and Desmond Elliot.The Nigeria Police under the leadership of IGP Arase has aligned policing in our country to best international practices where TV series highlighting exploits of the Police and criminal activities are utilized to strengthen internal security.In this instance,reference is made to global Police and TV series like 'Law and Order'',NYPD Blue',CSI in USA; and ''The Bill' in the UK.The objective of this TV series is not only to showcase the achievement of the Nigeria Police Force but also a confidence building technique that will encourage Nigerians to have faith in their own Police Force and it is also to educate the policemen and women on how to better relate and partner with the police,hence projecting that popular parlance ''Police is Your Friend and Partner''.The police further said ''Watch out for BEYOND YOUR SIGHT'' on our TV Stations across the Nation''.
