STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT PRESIDENT TINUBU'S MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE AND HER FAMILY With a deep sense of grief, I condole with Ms Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and the entire family on the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi. As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child. I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them. Ms Adichie is a literary icon who has brought joy and light to many homes globally, and I pray she and her family find strength in the Almighty in this trying hour. My prayers are with the family. It was reported that on thursday, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union, but majority of voters in both scotland and Northern Ireland cast a vote for the United Kingdom to remain in the European Union {EU}.As a nation,Scotland voted to remain by 62 percent to 38 percent;Northern Ireland was approximately 56 percent in favour of remaining, with 44 percent voting for a British exit.In contrast, both Wales and England saw approximately 53 percent of voters in favour of leaving the EU.England's population is much larger than the other nations in the U.K,so the total vote came down on the side of leaving the European. The sharp disconnect has revive the idea of Scotland declaring its independence from the U.K and of Northern Ireland leaving to merge with the independent Republic of Ireland, which is an European Union member.More photos below.
