 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. IGP SUES FOR PEACE TODAY,OVER THE DEATH OF PLATEAU MONARCH+ORDERS DIG TO BRING THE KILLERS TO BOOK.

                          The Inspector-General of Police,Ag. IGP Ibrahim Idris,NPM,mni has directed the Deputy-Inspector General of Police in charge operations,DIG Joshack Habilla to proceed to Platteau State with immediate effect to ensure the arrest of the killers of Chief Lazarus Agaie,the traditional ruler of Bokkos,who was murdered on his way from a farm alonside his wife,son and Police oderly.IGP Idris said those behind the grusome murder of the monarch will be fished out in record time for prosecution,saying,this is why the Deputy Inspector-General of Police is sent to Plateau State.He further said it was pathetic to see the life of any Nigerian,irresoective of his or her status snuffed out by any criminal gang in whatever name.The Inspector General of Police said the death of the monarch,his family and orderly were particularly painful,but more painful when we take to reprisal attacks; he therefore advised the aggrieved to be patient with the Police in their investigation into the murder of the monarch.IGP Ibrahim Idris said the Nigerian Police will leave no stone unturned in arresting the culprits,but need the collaboration of everyone with useful information,without over heating the already tensed insecurity challenges the country is going through.He assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police under his watch will ensure decency in the polity.
