 Germany and Austria to tap oil reserves after 400 million barrels requested  Germany and Austria announced they are releasing portions of their oil reserves in response to an International Energy Agency request for member nations to collectively release 400 million barrels to help ease rising energy prices linked to the Iran conflict. Japan also said it will begin releasing part of its reserves starting Monday. The move marks one of the largest coordinated releases of emergency oil stocks in history. The previous record came in 2022, when IEA members released 182.7 million barrels following the energy disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Member countries currently hold over 1.2 billion barrels of public emergency oil stocks, along with an additional 600 million barrels of industry stocks maintained under government requirements.                      It was reported today that Malawi authorities have arrested a man who featured on BBC as being involved in initiation ceremonies meant to ''cleanse' young girls by having sex with them.The arrest order is reported to have come from the country's President Peter Mutharrika.Eric Aniva had been featured by the news agency as being a 'hyena',a nickname to refer to persons who engages in the practice.He revealed that he was HIV positive,but despite that,he had slept with more than 100 young girlsThe sex cleansing practice is a traditional custom endorsed and funded by some communities in southern Malawi but the government has been trying to stop it.The BBC reports the director of communication at State House Bright Molande as saying that the president was disturbed by the revelations made in the story and has vowed to crackdown on the cultural practice.
