Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. It was reputed today that Nigerian troops returning from Bama on humanitarian escort duty,were ambushed enroute Maiduguri by suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in Meleri village,a few kilometres from Kawuri.The gallant troops however,successfully cleared the ambush and exploited up to Afunori.Unfortunately,2 soldiers and 3 civilians were wounded in the ambush,among whom were staff of the United Nations agencies and other international humanitarian organizations.The wounded have been evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital,Maiduguri and they are in stable condition.The Nigerian Army wishes to sympathize with wounded colleagues,the united nations and other Non-governmental organizations whose personel were also injured in this sad incident.We wish to reiterate our determination and commitment of ensuring safety and security in the North East and safeguarding the lives of all persons.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.
