PRESS RELEASE NAF MOURNS 25 LIVES LOST IN NAF 931 AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has expressed profound condolences to the families of the personnel and passengers who lost their lives following the accident involving Nigerian Air Force (NAF) ATR 42 aircraft, NAF 931, in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State. The CAS described the incident as a deeply painful moment for the Nigerian Air Force and the nation, expressing heartfelt sympathies to the families, loved ones and colleagues of those who lost their lives. He assured the bereaved families of the Service’s full support during this difficult period. NAF 931 had 25 persons on board, comprising five crew members and 20 passengers. The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred. Today the 2nd of August 2016,made it 19 years {2nd August 1997} Afro Beat Nigerian Musician Fela,passed away.I remembered that day when it was announced that he died,i was still in secondary and alot of his music was played on the streets,and a lot of people had so much to say about him.Though it was said he died of HIV,but he was well respected in Nigeria for his bravery in challenging most of the military government,in an era that was very dangerous to challenge the government.He sang and everybody listened.His first son Femi Kuti,said in his 2011 interview with the Nigeria Today that ''Yes he was a great man.He is the kind of person you meet and in the few minutes you spend with him,you learn so much.You become very African conscious,you will want to know more about your people,and you'll appreciate the culture.He had that kind of aura,this African thing about him that would surely make you proud''.More photos below.
