  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. katab                                    According to CCTV,8 {Eight}  Egyptian female television presenters have been suspended by the state run broadcaster for being overweight,sparking an uproar among women rights groups.According to The Telegragh,the Egyptian Radio and Television Union {Ertu} suspended the eight women for one month,saying they are too overweight to appear on camera.According to local media,the eigth were instructed to lose weight before they can appear on camera again.The Telegraph reports that the Egyptian broadcaster,The Ertu,told local media the decision would not be reversed,but that he women would continue to be paid during their suspension.Reda Eldanbouki,head of NGO Women's Centre for Guidance and Legal Awareness said the suspension of the eight women and is abusive towards them,'' Mr Eldambouki told the Guardiankatab

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
