Somali PM calls on Somaliland to cut Israel ties, urges reconciliation Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has called on Somaliland’s leadership to cut ties with Israel and to resolve disputes with the federal government through dialogue. Barre said relations among Somalis should be addressed through talks rather than confrontation, in remarks during a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of North East State. In December 2025, Israel announced mutual recognition with Somaliland, a move strongly rejected by the Somali government as a breach of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and criticised by many countries across the world. “Regarding our brothers in Somaliland, I have nothing new to say. The General Overseer of a church {name withheld} was on thursday arrested by the Delta State Police Command,Asaba,for allegedly raping a seven year old daughter of his member.Mrs Celestina Kalu,the }ublic Relations Officer of the command disclosed that the suspect's church is located along Ibusa Road,Koka,Asaba.According to Kalu,the cleric lured the girl into the church office to 'Pray' for her but committed the act.The victim after the incident,divulged what had happened to her parents.The couple in turn immediately rushed their daughter to the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba.The hospital report,according to the spokesman showed the girl had been raped and bruises were also discovered in her private parts.Kalu added that on investigation,the suspect confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
