Nigerian military jet crashes in Niger A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet has reportedly crashed near Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday evening, December 6. Unconfirmed reports from local sources clam that the two pilots onboard survived the incident after successfully ejecting from the aircraft. A Niger state-based digital television network, Lapai TV, announced the tragic incident in a post on its official Facebook account on Saturday evening, December 6. The post, accompanied by a one-minute video, read, “Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Reportedly Survive Alpha Jet Crash Close to Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State”. It was reported that the two pilots successfully ejected before the aircraft went down. Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has yet to make any official statement concerning about the crash as of the time of filing this report.
Yesterday friday ''World Humanitarian Day,NEMA {National Emergency Management} organised an awareness Roadwalk with participation from many humanitarian stakeholders that include the Nigeria Police,OXFAM,UNHCR,UNOCHA,NESREA,NOA,NSCDC,FRSC,NAPTIP,HEritage bank and NASOW amongst others.The Vice President was represented by his adviser on IDPs Dr Femi Oke-Osayintolu and Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of Operations Mr Habila Joshak who represented the IGP led the Roadwalk with NEMA Director of relief and Rehabilitation Alhaji Aliyu Baffale Sambo.The take off was NEMA's Ambulance Bay beside the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the agency's headquarters in Maitama.Also on the procession were the Country Director of OXFAM Mr Jan Rogge,Humanitarian Ambassador and Nollywood Star Francis Duru.DG NEMA Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi OFR received the team on arrival where he also briefed the press on significance of the Day and its theme ''One Humanity''.More photos below.
