 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough. THE DEATH OF NUNUGWO:THISDAY LIED.-EFCC.

                           The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,has been drawn to the editorial of Thisday Newspaper of August 23,2016 titled ''The Death of Citizen Nugugwo''.The attempt by This day to call attention to the unfortunate incident of the sudden death of Nunugwo,a fraud suspect of the EFCC in the said editorial appears salutary,on the surface,as the public deserves to be properly informed on the circumstances leading to his death.The EFCC appreciates this fact,and has never shied away from sharing information regarding the sad occurrence with the public.The need for openness in the handling of the issue partly informed the decision of the Commission to announce the death and provided vivid account of the chain of events before and after his demise in a press statement on June 10,2016 by its spokesperson,Wilson Uwujaren.The EFCC has come clean on this matter and will welcome investigation by any agency as it has nothing to hide.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
