 There was no evidence that he slept with the girl” – Yomi Fabiyi gives update on Baba Ijesha’s case Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has given an update on embattled Yoruba actor Baba Ijesha’s case. Refreshing your memory, Baba Ijesha was arrested and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for raping a minor, who is the adopted daughter of comedian Princess. Giving an update on the case in a recent interview, he said Baba Ijesha’s appeal process is still ongoing in court. He claimed that there was no evidence that he slept with the hole; hence, the judge didn’t sentence him to life imprisonment. Yomi stated that Princess called Baba Ijesha to shoot a skit, and the girl also made a similar statement in court.                            The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,has been drawn to the editorial of Thisday Newspaper of August 23,2016 titled ''The Death of Citizen Nugugwo''.The attempt by This day to call attention to the unfortunate incident of the sudden death of Nunugwo,a fraud suspect of the EFCC in the said editorial appears salutary,on the surface,as the public deserves to be properly informed on the circumstances leading to his death.The EFCC appreciates this fact,and has never shied away from sharing information regarding the sad occurrence with the public.The need for openness in the handling of the issue partly informed the decision of the Commission to announce the death and provided vivid account of the chain of events before and after his demise in a press statement on June 10,2016 by its spokesperson,Wilson Uwujaren.The EFCC has come clean on this matter and will welcome investigation by any agency as it has nothing to hide.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
