 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. CqirqQEWIAU3xoZ                        John Kerry,the US Secretary of State was spotted today with the Sultan of Sokoto for an official visit.John Kerry spoke highly of the Sultan for promoting religious tolerance and understanding among Nigerians.Citing that,the Sultanate Council was building a community of tolerance for peace,progress and political stability in Nigeria.After which Kerry had a closed door meeting with Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar and some leaders of the two major religions according to reports by Vanguard.U.S Secretary of State John Kerry said today tuesday in Sokoto that ''We also know that beating Boko Haram on the battlefield is only the beginning of what we must do..Building public trust in government also requires cooperation from the military and law enforcement.Extremism can't be defeated through repression or fear''.John Kerry will also meet with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja to discuss counter-terrorism efforts,the Nigerian economy,and the fight against corruption and human rights issues.Kery will leave Nigeria for Saudi Arabia,tomorrow wednesday,August 24.More photos below.
