COURT SENTENCES TWO KIDNAPPERS IN EKITI STATE TO DEATH BY HANGING A high court of Ekiti state has convicted and sentenced the kidnappers, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar to death by hanging. Delivering the verdict, the Chief Judge of Ekiti state, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye who gave the order sentenced two convicts to death by hanging and discharged the third defendant, Usman Abubakar. The matter bordered on the abduction of Omoboade Adesina, a female National Youth Service Corps member in Ekiti state, on 22nd April, 2022. Justice Lekan Ogunmoye commended the diligence of DSS prosecutors for proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.
The spokesman for the command,Mr Ebere Amaraizu,disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria {NANA} that locally made guns and two short axes were recovered from the bandits.Mr Amaraizu said tthat amongst other items recovered were TV sets,DVDs,standing fans,six mobile phones,all of which are suspected to have been stolen from victims.He added that the gang was picked up by the police following a tip from some members of the public.He said ''The police operatives in Adani Division in the early hours of Saturday,September 10 nabbed six notorious armed bandits.They have been terrorising the residents of Opanda,Nimbo and Adani communities in Uzo-Uwani LGA of the state and its environs.Suspects,name withheld,are helping the police in their investigations in relations to their alleged nefarious activities.Their activities ranges from armed robbery and burglary among others'''.He further revealed that the command has now begun a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang.
