In a blog post that has now been published by many international media organisations, in an apparent well-coordinated public relations effort, Binance Chief Executive Officer Richard Teng made false allegations of bribery against unidentified Nigerian government officials who he claimed demanded $150m in cryptocurrency payments to resolve the ongoing criminal investigation against the company.  This claim by Binance CEO lacks any iota of substance. It is nothing but a diversionary tactic and an attempted act of blackmail by a company desperate to obfuscate the grievous criminal charges it is facing in Nigeria.                             Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode today monday declared the 2016/2017 Legal Year open,urging members of the bar and the bench to come up with innovative reforms so that the Lagos State Judiciary will continue to retain its pride of place in Nigeria.The Governor,who spoke during a church service to commemorate the beginning of the Legal Year,held at the Cthedral Church of Christ,Marina,said the synergy of the Executive and the Judiciary was pivotal to the success of any administration,just as he restated his administration's commitment to enthrone the rule of law and protect the less privileged.He thanked the JUddiciary for the support given to his administration in the last 16 months,urging them to continue to discharge their duties without fear or favour to ensure peace continues to reign in the State.Governor Ambode while acknowledging that the task of delivering justice to the citizenry was tough,however,expressed optimism that the judicial arm of government represented by the Lagos State Judiciary remains the only and the last hope of the citizenry in the State.''We are gathered here again today,just the same way we came last year to seek his protection and guidance I just want to urge all of you in the judicial sector that we should discharge our duties with the fear of God,'' Governor Ambode said.Earlier,Provost of the Cathedral,Revd Akinyemi Johnson,commended Governor Ambode for finding time to attend the event,while also alluding to the strides that the State has recorded since the Governor assumed office.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison.  Punish my abusers within 48 hours or face lawsuit - Student bullied by her classmates threaten school authorities The bullied student of British Lead International School, Miss. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her. Namtira said if the school authorities fail to sanction the student bullies within 48 hours of the receipt of the letter, she would seek immediate and severe legal redress against the school.
