 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. AMBODE APPOINTS DICKSON AS NEW DG SAFETY COMMISSION.

Image result for ambode                            Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode today tuesday approved the appointment of Mr Hakeem Olagun Dickson as the new Director General of Lagos State Sfety Commission.In a statement signed by the State Head of Service,Mrs Olabowale Ademola,the Governor said Dickson's appointment was in line with his administration's commitment to turn around the agency for optimal performance.Dickson holds a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts from the Thomas A. Edison State College,Trenton,New Jersey U.S.A and two Masters Degrees in Business Administration specializing in Accounting and Finance respectively,both from the Fairleight Dickinson University,Rutherford,New Jersey,U.S.A.He was an internal Auditor at the now defunct Nigeria airways before his overseas experience as Staff Accountant/External Auditor/Tax Adviser at the Cooper and Lybrand CPA,Newark,New Jersey U.S.A.He then returned to the country to contest and won an election as the Executive Chairman of the Surulere Local Government between 1988 and 1994.He is currently the C.E.O of Citiwide Construction and Transport Nigeria Limited which specializes in the construction of roads and buildings.Governor Ambode urged Dickson to bring his political clout and experience in the importance and safety practices especially at work and construction projects to bear on the mandate of the Lagos State Safety Commission,the agency saddled with the responsibility of safety regulations and enforcement in the State.His appointment is however subject to the approval of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
