 LASU’s 28th Convocation: 192 Bag First-Class Degrees A total of 192 students will graduate with First-Class honors as Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, holds its 28th convocation ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello announced this on Thursday during a press briefing at the university’s Senate building. She revealed that out of 8,711 first-degree graduates, 192 earned First-Class, while 3,076 finished with Second-Class Upper Division. Additionally, 4,397 secured Second-Class Lower, 990 earned Third-Class, and 39 graduated with a pass. Olatunji-Bello named Nwosu Isioma Sybil of the Biochemistry Department, with a CGPA of 4.93, as the overall best-graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session. Among the 2,235 postgraduate students, LASU will award 302 postgraduate diplomas, 1,132 academic master’s degrees, 639 professional master’s degrees, 125 Ph.D.s, and 37 professional doctorates. OONI OF IFE,COVERS TODAY SUNDAY ALLURE VANGUARD AS HE SPEAKS OF GOOD SACRIFICES.{PHOTOS}.

                                                     Today sunday the 16th of October 2016,the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi,covered Allure Vanguard.Three questions caught my attention and the first question is:
1.Are there sacrifices that you wouldn't perform?
Answer: Sacrifices that are of evil I will not perform.But the ones that are nature based,why not? If you go to a church or mosque,they use frankincense; we use it in the traditional way.We call it turari.Catholics use the Rosary,Muslims use the Tesibai.We use opele.It is the same; one is just packaged more than the other.
2. Are there things that have changed about you since becoming the Ooni?
Answer: A lot of things have changed about me.Now,to the Glory of God,I know the truth.And,the truth is that our culture is not demonic.What was demonic about it was that our ancestors used it in demonic ways.Fortunately,lot of people tapped into it.All the inventions are tied to all the deities in Africa.Name any invention and I will tell you its source in nature.
3.Kabeyesi,what plans do you have to turn Ife around?
Answer: The Ile-Ife ''My dream'' will be strategically positioned to empower its people socially,economically and culturally to bring about the desired developments.Now,with our resolve to transform Ile-Ife we are 'SET' to leave no stone upturned,in the drive to put Ile-Ife on the map of the world.Our ultimate goal is to reposition the House of Oduduwa as a worthy example of successful inward-looking community.There is a huge possibility for Ile-Ife to experience tremendous growth through industrialization and development projects like a company managed by dedicated sons and daughters of Ife and all Ife enthusiasts.I have no doubt,Ife will be great again due to its economic dexterity.Ife has one of the largest land mass in the South-west beaming with natural resources including three out of the four factors of production' 'land','labour' and 'entrepreneurship' and with our great resolve we shall work towards 'capital' creation.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
