 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. A NIGERIA MAN WAS EXECUTED IN SINGAPORE AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY OF DRUG TRAFFICKING.{PHOTOS}.

Image result for chijioke obiora                   According to sources,a 38 year old Nigerian identified as Chijioke Obioha has been executed in Singapore after being found guilty of drug trafficking.Mr Obioha was hanged in Changi Prison early friday morning alongside a Malaysian national who was convicted on separate drugs offenses.Mr Obiora was arrested in April 2007 after being found in possession of more than 2.6 kilograms of cannabis.The quanttity surpassed the 500 grams threhold that triggers the automatic presumption of trafficking under Singaporean law.He was found guilty in December 2008 and was sentenced to death by hanging,An appeal he filed was dismissed in 2010.His execution came two days after he lost an appeal for elemency from the Singaporean government.Amnesty International,which made serious efforts to overturn his death sentence,condemned the scheduled execution of Mr Obioha.''The death penalty is never the solution.It will not rid Singapore of drugs.By executing people for drug-related offences,which do not meet the threshold of most serious crimes,Singapore is violating international law,'' the rights group said on wedneday.
