 "Worth It" — Woman Pleads Guilty to Fatally Shooting 11-Month-Old Son to Keep Him From Father Madeline Veronique Daly, 36, pleaded guilty this week in Silver City, New Mexico, to first-degree murder in the December 23, 2025 killing of her 11-month-old son, Basil Stoner. Grant County deputies had tracked her to an RV off Highway 15 on a Wyoming kidnapping warrant after she took the baby during a custody dispute with his father, Jake Stoner. While officers waited for a warrant and tried to negotiate, Daly put a 9mm handgun to the boy’s face and fired. According to the criminal complaint, Daly told investigators her thought when she saw law enforcement approach was: “Jake can’t get Basil.” After her arrest she said it was “worth it” if Basil’s father and his family never got him.                 Twenty Finalists emerged in the EFCC's partnership with Creative Youths Initiative against Corruption {CYIAC} Talent hunt Competition.The event which is aimed at sensitizing children and youth between ages 9-14 years on the ills of corruption through creative development is happening now at the freedom park,Broad street,Lagos.The Executive Chairman,EFCC,IbrahimMagu,represented by Director,Public Affairs Department,EFCC,Osita Nwajah in his speech appreciated the German Embassy,the Press and Nigeria's Nobel Laureate,Professor Wole Soyinka for their contributions towards the success of the Initiative.The stage is set for the Finalists to compete for various prices and awards that is due for potential Champions who are able to prove themselves worthy of recognition after a series of competitive screening exercises involving Primary and Secondary School Pupils and Students from various Schools in Lagos,Nigeria.The Project will be rounded up at the Nigeria Stock Exchange,Lagos on December 1,2016 during which the Nationwide Campaign against corruption is expected to be launched.More photos below.
