 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways. VILLAGERS GATHER FOR SPIRITUAL CLEANSING IN AGULERI IN ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTOS}.

                 According to sources,hundreds of Aguleri villagers gathered for spiritual cleansing and prayers at the Omambala River in Anambra state to celebrate the Eri Festival.The villagers underwent special prayers before being dipped into the river for the cleansing as depicted in the pictures.The Eri festival / Olili-Obibia-Eri is an Ancient festival celebrated by Ezeora Kings.This remarkable festival has been observed from the ancient times on the 8th native/Igbo month of the year,onwa-isato,in memory of Eri's journey and subsequent settlement.More photos below.
