 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. 200 DIED YESTERDAY IN A CHURCH BUILDING COLLAPSE IN AKWA IBOM STATE+LUCKLY THE GOVERNOR ESCAPED DEATH.{PHOTOS}.

Image result for akwa ibom building collapse                       Yesterday saturday the Governor of Akwa Ibom State,Mr Udom Emmanuel,narrowly escaped death as the building of Reigners Bible Chuech Int'l Inc,along Uyo Village Road,Uyo,the state capital,collapsed during service.The incident left about 200 worshippers dead.Sources said it took the efforts of the governor's security officers to whisk him away to safety.He was said to have sustained a minor injury.The governor was in the church attending the ordination of the church's Presiding Pasto,Bishop Elect Akan Weeks,when the building gave way few minutes before offering period.One of the aides,who rescued the governor,was said to have died at a nearby hospital where he was rushed to.A security who spoke to pressmen but did not want to be named,said many dignitaries who accompanied the governor to the church also died.Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Ekerette Udoh,also sustained serious injury.It was gathered that construction works on a section where the ordination held were rushed because of saturday's event.The church has an estimated 10,000-seater capacity.Two cranes belonging to construction giant,Julius Berger,were used to clear the debris.May those who lost their lives yesterday rest in peace,Amen.More photos below.
