 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 200 DIED YESTERDAY IN A CHURCH BUILDING COLLAPSE IN AKWA IBOM STATE+LUCKLY THE GOVERNOR ESCAPED DEATH.{PHOTOS}.

Image result for akwa ibom building collapse                       Yesterday saturday the Governor of Akwa Ibom State,Mr Udom Emmanuel,narrowly escaped death as the building of Reigners Bible Chuech Int'l Inc,along Uyo Village Road,Uyo,the state capital,collapsed during service.The incident left about 200 worshippers dead.Sources said it took the efforts of the governor's security officers to whisk him away to safety.He was said to have sustained a minor injury.The governor was in the church attending the ordination of the church's Presiding Pasto,Bishop Elect Akan Weeks,when the building gave way few minutes before offering period.One of the aides,who rescued the governor,was said to have died at a nearby hospital where he was rushed to.A security who spoke to pressmen but did not want to be named,said many dignitaries who accompanied the governor to the church also died.Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Ekerette Udoh,also sustained serious injury.It was gathered that construction works on a section where the ordination held were rushed because of saturday's event.The church has an estimated 10,000-seater capacity.Two cranes belonging to construction giant,Julius Berger,were used to clear the debris.May those who lost their lives yesterday rest in peace,Amen.More photos below.
