 Nigerian Association for Family Development releases communique on 18 biennial conference held in Awka By Chris Chikelue The Nigerian Association For Family Development (NAFAD) has made public the communique made at the 18th Biennial conference  themed: 'Marriage as a Vocation- Flourishing Despite Modern Challenges'. The communique which was issued on March 30, 2025 at the Bishop AK Obiefuna  Retreat and Pastoral Centre, Okpunor, Awka, Anambra State was signed by NAFAD National President, Mr. Uche Okpala and its National Secretary,  Mrs Tayo Akinyede. It was a gathering that brought together couples, relationship experts, and singles to explore practical ways to strengthen marriages and address contemporary relationship challenges. According to the communique the event emphasized that marriage is a sacred vocation—a call to total self-giving, sacrifice, and shared purpose in building resilient families. Related image                                                          It was reported today wednesday that the Federal Government has declared Monday December twenty sixth,and Tuesday December twenty seven aas public holidays to mark the Christmas and Boxing Day.Federal Government also declared Monday .January second next year as public holiday to mark the New Year.The Minister of Interior,retired Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau,made the declaration in a statement released in Abuja today wednesday.In the statement signed by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido,the minister called for peace and unity in the country.He enjoined all Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to remain committed and supportive of the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained efforts toward building a peaceful,united and prosperous nation.Dambazau also urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace,unity and peaceful,united and prosperous nation.Dambazau also urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace,unity and peaceful co-existence across the country.The Minister wished all Nigerians at home and abroad,a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
