Fintiri Appoints Emirs for Newly Created Emirates in Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has appointed emirs and chiefs for the seven newly established emirates. According to the governor’s spokesperson, Humwashi Wonosikou, the appointments were made based on merit and the popularity of the selected individuals. The appointments follow the passage of the “Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) and Matters Incidental Thereto” law by the State House of Assembly on December 10, 2024, and its subsequent signing into law by Governor Fintiri on December 16. This legislation empowers the governor to create new emirates and depose incapacitated traditional rulers.
