The Federal Government has prohibited military personnel from engaging in romantic relationships with their subordinates or the spouses of their subordinates. Additionally, Nigerian military members are strictly forbidden from participating in homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, cross-dressing, and other activities deemed incompatible with the values of the armed forces. They are also barred from body piercing, tattooing, disorderly behavior, intoxication on or off duty, and any actions that could bring public disgrace. These rules are outlined in Section 26 of the updated “Harmonised Armed Forces Terms and Conditions of Service”, signed by President Bola Tinubu on December 16, 2024.
