 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LAGOS @50 ANNIVERSARY: GROUP UNVEILS LARGEST T-SHIRT FOR CELEBRATION.{PHOTOS}.

Image may contain: 1 person, standing             As activities lined up for the celebration of Lagos @50 gathered  momentum,a group named Team Nigeria has presented a 7-feet anniversary T-Shirt,tagged ''Eko Shirt' to the Lagos State Government.
Speaking at the unveiling of the Tee-shirrt,the Commissioner for the Ministry of /local Government and Community Affairs,Hon. Muslim Folami commended the initiative and described it as a welcome partnership for development,He said that the initiative by Team Nigeria complements the unwavering support of the State Government to theatre development and performance arts across the State.While canvassing support for the present administration to deliver more of its promises on improved infrastructure,programmes and projects,Folami called on Non-governmental Organisations,NGOs,to join hands with the State Government in making the celebration a memorable and worthwhile experience.Speaking on the anniversary T-Shirt initiative,the Creative Director of Team Nigeria,Mr. Olafemi George commended the Ministry for giving the group the leverage to discover creative and talented youths across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State.
He said that the meaningful engagement of youths has helped in giving qualitative life t some of them who were initially victims of neglect and societal misdemeanour.
According to him,the Group is planning to host an uninterrupted theatrical performance of 150 hours in a bid to set the Group and the State on the international scene and take a prime place in the Guiness Book of Records as the convener of the longest marathon theatre performance.George said that the group is also counting on the kind gesture of benevolent individuals in the course of the anniversary celebration to bring to reality its vision of donating a primary school to the State Government in Somolu area of the State.He said that the unveiling of the 7-feet T-Shirt version precedes the 50-feet by 35-feet T-Shirt that would eventually be presented to the State Government to herald the anniversary.More photos below.
