 Anambra State Government Apprehends 8 Suspects For Extorting More Than 800,000 Thousand Naira From Women In Awka  By Chidinma Ikeanyionwu  Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, has arrested eight suspects for allegedly extorting more than Eight Hundred Thousand Naira from women in Awka.  The arrest was part of state government's resolve in eradicating crimes and corruption in the state.  The exercise came following the directive of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo of an NGO using government's name to extort the sum of twenty thousand naira and above from unsuspecting individuals mostly women in Awka.  When the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner bursted the office complex of the Host Communities of Nigeria Anambra State Chapter located opposite government house Awka, it was discovered that the suspects were operating with the United Bank of Africa staff in opening a current account for the women who must pay

Image may contain: 1 person              In a video posted on his Instagram yesterday saturday night,Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia Popularly known as Tuface did not chicken out of the protest but he said in the video that the protest which is scheduled to hold tomorrow monday at the nation stadium is under threat of being hijacked by other interests not aligned with the ideas behind the organisation of the march.He said in the video ''Dear Nigerians,after due consultations,it has become clear that the one voice protest scheduled to hold in Lagos and Abuja on monday,February 6 is under serious threat of hijack by interests not aligned with our ideals.The point I am intent on making is not worth the life of any Nigerian.It is motivated by the need to negotiate a better deal for the ordinary Nigerian.I therefore announce the cancellation of the planned protest.We would share further information in due course we appreciate the massive support.I am convinced our voices have been heard.May God bless you all,may God bless Nigeria''.According to another source,the Conference of Nigeria's Civil Right Activists and the United Action for Democracy,CNCRA have said there is no going back on the planned mass protests called by Nigeria's hip hop icon,Innocent 'Tuface'' Idibia,despite the police's effort to stop them.Speaking on the police's call that the protest should be cancelled,the convener of the CNCRA,Ifeanyi Odili,said, ''The security agencies do not have such power under the constitution.Why should they stop it? Are hey not part of us? Do they have special markets? If they want to be overzealous with their job,then we will tell them that we are not joking''.
