 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident. Our enforcement teams are led by seasoned, well-trained, and highly disciplined senior officers who are far too professional and educated to jeopardise their ranks, integrity, and years of service for personal gain. Image may contain: 5 people                    The wife of the Lagos State governor,Bolanle Ambode,has appealed to Nigerian women to shun any act or behaviour that is capable of aiding corruption.
She also tasked women,particcularly in the South West to take a stand against corruption.Speaking yesterday wednesday at the launch of the Women Against Corruption {WAC} in the South-West at the Haven Event Centre,Ikeja,Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,she said women were strategically positioned in view of their roles as moulders of characters and behaviours.''The cause and effects of corruption are very clear to everyone.It has been identified as one of the major factors responsible for the current state of the economy.The fight against corruption must be seen as a priority,which everyone must be involved in,if we desire to sustainably address the issue of poverty and also make the economy work for everyone,'' she said.Ambode,who commended the acting Chairman of EFCC,Ibrahim Magu and his team for initiating the project aimed at engaging women in the fight against corruption,added that ''it is a fact that women account for almost half of the Nigerian population.It,therefore,follows that such a huge population must be carried along as critical stakeholders on issues bordering on national development''.She further expressed the hope that the campaign would produce the desired effects in the Nigeria polity.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
