 Nigerians shouldn’t be poor — Obasanjo Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has asserted that Nigerians ought not to be living in poverty, given the country’s abundant natural and human resources. Speaking at a dinner hosted in his honour by the Abia State Government on Friday at the Government House in Umuahia, Obasanjo stated that the nation is richly endowed but continues to suffer as a result of the mismanagement of its resources. He said: “Nigerians have no business with poverty because God has given us all that we need. “If we are mismanaging what God has given us, we do not have God to blame, we have ourselves to blame.” The former president commended Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his administration’s transformation efforts, highlighting the widespread public approval of his governance. A DOCTOR COMMITTED SUICIDE YESTERDAY BY JUMPING OFF THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE.{PHOTOS}

  Image result for the doctor who committed suicide in lagos                                      Yesterday sunday,a Medical Doctor identified as Dr Orji committed suicide by jumping off Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon after he received a phone call.It was gathered that the doctor,who was driven by his driver had ordered him to park his Pathfinder Nissan Sports Uitility Vehicle {SUV} marked LND476EE on the bridge,before taking over the steering.The deceased who was said to be returning from church,had taken back the car keys from the driver at Adeniji Adele,drove a few metres and then parked before jumping into the lagoon.As at 7p.m,operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad {RRS} and the Marine Police Unit were still battling to rescue him.Already,the police have deployed boats and drones in the search and rescue mission.Confirming the incident,the General Manager,Lagos State Emergency Management Agency {LASEMA},Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu,said proper investigation would be conducted on the incident by the appropriate authorities.He said ''The agency received a distress call off a man whoo parked his grey coloured Nissan SUV {as pictured above} with registration number LND 476 EE at about 4.50 pm on Sunday,around Adekunle,inward Third Mainland Bridge and jumped in to the Lagos lagoon.Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the man said to be medical doctor,and named Orji who was said to be driven by his driver,suddenly ordered him {driver} to pull over,got down from the car and suddenly jumped into the water from the bridge.The vehicle and driver have been taken to Adeniji Adele Police Station for further investigation,while effort is ongoing to recover his body from the lagoon''.Why he committed suicide is yet to be known but there will be an update later.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
