 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. PRESS RELEASE: IGP VISITS ZONE 2 COMMAND & POLICE COLLEGE IKEJA+CHARGES POLICEMEN ON TRAINING TO BE DISCIPLINED & DEDICATED TO THEIR CAREER.{PHOTOS}.

Idris,NPM,mni on 2nd of March 2017 paid a working visit to Zone 2,Lagos,where he opened a biannual special training and capacity development seminar with the theme ''Towards more professional and proficient Police service delivery''.
2.He also visited Police College Ikeja on 3rd of March 2017,and inspected Guard of Honour mounted by detachment of Policemen from Police College,and thereafter addressed Police College,and thereafter addressed Police officers as well as trainees on course at the Institution.
3. The IGP was welcomes at the college with a guard of honour mounted by the sentry policemen,later proceeded to address the trainees comprising cadet inspectors both general duty/specialist and constables general duty and specialist.In his lectures,the IGP charges the trainess to be discipline while on training and in the course of their policing career.He also added on the extensive need for them to up hold the international core values of policing with integrity,respect for human rights and avoid any acts capable of tarnishing the image of the force and Nigeria at large.
4. During the visit,the IGP approved the promotion of the Policemen on the sentry to their next rank for their excellent performance.He also addressed the officers and men of the institution on the need to ensure that the trainees are well trained and disciplined.More also he commended them for their efforts and encourage them to be dedicated to their duties as trainers,promised to do his best to improve their welfare.
The IGP was accompanied to  the college by the DIG in charge of training and development DIG Emmanuel Iyang and other senior officers.
