HERDSMEN KILL DRIVER ON HUMANITARIAN MISSION IN TARABA STATE 10th January, 2026 A commercial driver, Mr. Amishe Omeny, has been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen while on a humanitarian visit to a displaced community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. The deceased, from Tse Amise after Tseem, was reportedly attacked on Friday within Chanchanji Ward as he travelled to Adokia, a displaced settlement located after Tseem Sabe. He was said to have gone to the area to assist villagers with the transportation of foodstuffs. Sources in the community told Benue Info-pedia, that Omeny volunteered his services as a driver to support residents affected by ongoing insecurity, when he was ambushed and killed by the assailants. The killing has sparked grief and outrage among residents, who described the incident as tragic and senseless. The author of ''Eze Goes To School'',a popular novel which was featured in the early 90s,Chief Onuora Nzekwu,has died at the age of 89,the family confirmed yesterday Saturday.Late Onuora Nzekwu ,also the founding General Manager of News Agency of Nigeria {NAN},died on Friday in his home in Onitsha,Anambra,where he had been living in retirement,a family member,Mr Louis Chuke said.Nzekwu joined the Federal Civil Service as an editorial assistant at the Nigeria Magazine Division of the Federal Ministry of Information.He worked as an editorial assistant from 1956 to 1958 when took over the position of editor-in-chief of the magazine.In 1966 when the Nigerian civil war broke out,he transferred his services to the Eastern Nigeria Public Service and returned to the federal service at the end of the crisis in 1970.He served as General Manager of NAN from 1979 to 1985.Nzekwu wrote Troubled Dust,a novel that recounts the experience of the civil war.May his soul rest in peace Amen.One more photos below.
