 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LAGOS SELECTS 43 PUBLIC,53 PRIVATE SCHOOLS AS CODE CENTRES+AMBODE HOLD 2ND QUARTER TOWN HALL MEETING AT OTO AWORI LCDA.

Image result for ambode                  The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Education ,Mr Obafela Bank-Olemoh has disclosed that a total number of 43 Public and 53 Private Schools have been caregully selected as code cemtres from the six education districts,adding that State Public Libraries located at Herbert Macaulay,Ilupeju,Isolo and Ipaja would also be used for people that are out of school but interested in being part of ''Code Lagos'' programme of the State.Speaking at an interactive session with stakeholders in his office,Bank-Olemoh revealed that there are many Private Organizations parternering with the State Government on the programme in order to ensure its success.He said that the Master Trainers and Facilitators of the programme have alrady been trained and will soon be deployed to selected Schools and Public Libraries to facilitate the Code Lagos Project.Bank-Olemoh explained that the initiative is an after School programme for students,while it has morning and evening sessions for those out of School,adding that upper Primary Class {primary 4-6} would be regarded as the lower category while the higher category for the programming code will be for JSS 1-3 SS1-3 students.The Special Adviser said that each coding centre would have about 20 Students per class with computer sets,inverter or Solar Energy and a Facilitator.He also called on the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretariesin the six education districts within the state to cooperate and ensure the successful implementation of the Code Lagos initiative in their various district.The the second Quarter of Year 2017 Town Hall Meeting of Gvernor Ambode holds tomorrow 21st April,2017 at Shibiri/Ekunpa Area Office,Oto Awori LCDA from 10am prompt.
