NAF INTENSIFIES AIRPOWER CAMPAIGN, STRENGTHENS AIR PRESENCE IN SOKOTO TO DENY TERRORISTS FREEDOM OF ACTION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its airpower campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West, with a strengthened air presence in Sokoto State to support ongoing joint security operations. The initiative reflects the Service’s determination to sustain pressure on hostile elements, enhance aerial surveillance and maintain the capacity for rapid response to emerging threats, while providing effective air support to ground forces operating within the Joint Operations Area. The strengthened air presence is particularly significant in the fight against asymmetric threats, where terrorists and bandits exploit difficult terrain, mobility and concealment to evade ground forces. Garba Shehu,the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity,stated this in Abuja yesterday sunday night,in reaction to social media reports on the purported resignation of Kyari and Daura.Shehu,who frowned at the report,said the Chief of Staff left Abuja on saturday for China on a presidential assignment and would be back by the middle of the week.He said ''The report is pure mischief.What I can tell you is that the President sent the Chief of Staff Malam Abba Kyari to China on an assignment.He left on Saturday and we are expecting him by the middle of the week.The DG DSS,who spoke with me a few hours ago,is busy on his job.Nothing to indicate resignation.I think these are mere distraction''.
