 Four people have died after a car was swept away at an overflowing bridge in the Makotopong River near Sebayeng. Police recovered the bodies after a blue Renault Kwid carrying five occupants was pulled into the river during heavy water flow on Sunday morning, 8 March 2026. One passenger escaped from the vehicle and alerted police and emergency services. Police say the car was travelling along the Madiga–Makotopong gravel road when it overturned at the flooded bridge and was dragged into the river. The Provincial Search and Rescue team recovered the first body on Sunday. The victim was identified as Lebapa Petrus Mochitele, 27, from Madiga Village. EMS personnel declared him dead at the scene. Search operations resumed on Monday with the SAPS Water Wing Unit, EMS Search and Rescue, the Fire and Rescue Department, and an EMS helicopter.     Image result for alhaji ahmadu chanchangi             Senate President Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki,has expressed grief over the demise of the Chairman of Chanchangi Airlines and foremost businessman,Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi,who he described as an accomplished entrepreneur and philanthropist.Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser,Media and Publicity,Yusuph Olaniyonu,said the late Chanchangi would be missed for his philanthropy,diligence,management finesse andd humble lifestly.He said Chanchanhi would be remembered as one of the nation's great men who grew from a humble beginning to become a highly respected international figure through dint of hard work.He commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased,especially his son,Honourable Rufai Chanchangi,a member of the 8th House of Representatives,the people and governments of both Kaduna and Taraba States.While praying Allah to grant the soul of the departed a place in Aljanah Firdaus,Saraki called on his family to take solace in the fact that Chanchangi lived a highly impactful life worthy of emulation.The Taraba state born Kaduna based billonaire died along Kaduna-Abuja Road,on his way to a hospital in Abuja yesterday morning the 19th of April 2017.More photos below.
