NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges. A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters and two H-125 helicopters. The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. Senate President Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki,has expressed grief over the demise of the Chairman of Chanchangi Airlines and foremost businessman,Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi,who he described as an accomplished entrepreneur and philanthropist.Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser,Media and Publicity,Yusuph Olaniyonu,said the late Chanchangi would be missed for his philanthropy,diligence,management finesse andd humble lifestly.He said Chanchanhi would be remembered as one of the nation's great men who grew from a humble beginning to become a highly respected international figure through dint of hard work.He commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased,especially his son,Honourable Rufai Chanchangi,a member of the 8th House of Representatives,the people and governments of both Kaduna and Taraba States.While praying Allah to grant the soul of the departed a place in Aljanah Firdaus,Saraki called on his family to take solace in the fact that Chanchangi lived a highly impactful life worthy of emulation.The Taraba state born Kaduna based billonaire died along Kaduna-Abuja Road,on his way to a hospital in Abuja yesterday morning the 19th of April 2017.More photos below.
