LAWMA Waste, Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement operatives on night duty have apprehended two environmental offenders along the Jibowu and Ojota corridors of Ikorodu Road for engaging in illegal waste collection and indiscriminate disposal of refuse at unauthorized locations. The suspects, were arrested during routine surveillance operations after being found carrying out activities that constitute environmental nuisance and undermine approved waste management processes, despite repeated warnings and sensitization efforts. The offenders are being transferred to the Oshodi Task Force Office for prosecution through the Mobile Court in accordance with the environmental protection laws of Lagos State. LAWMA reiterates that illegal waste collection and indiscriminate dumping remain punishable offences. Senate President Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki,has expressed grief over the demise of the Chairman of Chanchangi Airlines and foremost businessman,Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi,who he described as an accomplished entrepreneur and philanthropist.Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser,Media and Publicity,Yusuph Olaniyonu,said the late Chanchangi would be missed for his philanthropy,diligence,management finesse andd humble lifestly.He said Chanchanhi would be remembered as one of the nation's great men who grew from a humble beginning to become a highly respected international figure through dint of hard work.He commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased,especially his son,Honourable Rufai Chanchangi,a member of the 8th House of Representatives,the people and governments of both Kaduna and Taraba States.While praying Allah to grant the soul of the departed a place in Aljanah Firdaus,Saraki called on his family to take solace in the fact that Chanchangi lived a highly impactful life worthy of emulation.The Taraba state born Kaduna based billonaire died along Kaduna-Abuja Road,on his way to a hospital in Abuja yesterday morning the 19th of April 2017.More photos below.
