A video showing one Miss Opemiposi Precious BOLAJI, an 18 year old 100L Mass Communication student beating her colleague identified as Miss Gloria AJAYI, a 100L Mass Communication student, in a private hostel outside the University campus has gone viral. In accordance with our institution's policies and extant regulations, the students who were captured in the viral video, appeared  before the Students' Disciplinary Committee at its emergency meeting held on Monday, May 6, 2024 for interrogations and appropriate recommendations, the report of which has been submitted to the University authorities. Image result for queens batons in lagos                                      According to Vanguard,Lagos residents were yesterday Saturday gave the Queens Baton a rousing welcome as the CGA officials arrived at the International wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport.Dignitaries including NOC President,Engr Habu Gumel,Chairman of the Queens Baton Main Organising Committee Mrs Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi,Hon Tunde Popoola,Chief Solomon Ogba {1st Vice President of NOC and AFN President},President General of Supporters Cllub,Dr Rafiu Ladipo,Nneka Ikem-Anibeze {SA to Sports Minister},Emma Nweri,Peter Nelson and hordes of Journalists and Camera men were present to welcome the Commonwealth Games Association members led by Gideon Sam.Others who arrived with the Baton are Adam Best,Patricia Quayle Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert and Colin Briggs.The Supporters Club with their band turned the Airport to a carnival of sorts as workers and passengers joined in the sweet melody of the music.Gideon Sam said that the arrival of the Baton starts the countdown to the Games in Gold Coast,Australia.He noted that Nigeria was a powerhouse in the Games adding that the enthusiasm shown here demonstrates Nigeria's willingness to win at the Games.One the Baton was handed over to Engr Gumel,the crowd cheered.Gumel said that Nigeria was happy to receive the Queenss Baton and promised that Team Nigeria would do Nigerians proud in Australia.Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi was excited to lift the Queens Batons and noted that the Batonbearers will inspire others with their passion and commitment to promote the Commonwealth Games.The arrival of the Queens Baton starts the countdown to the Games opening ceremony on April 4 next year in Australia.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.  Punish my abusers within 48 hours or face lawsuit - Student bullied by her classmates threaten school authorities The bullied student of British Lead International School, Miss. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her. Namtira said if the school authorities fail to sanction the student bullies within 48 hours of the receipt of the letter, she would seek immediate and severe legal redress against the school.
