The Traditional Ruler of Azumini Ndoki Ancient Kingdom in Ukwa East LGA, Abia State, HRM Eze Edward Eule (Onyenweali X), has dismissed claims by some of his subjects that he abandoned his throne following his temporary absence from the community. This is as six suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the stealing of the community’s electricity transformer, thus plunging the community into darkness. The monarch, who is currently in the U.S, explained that his trip was to attend to personal and professional matters, adding that he will soon return to Nigeria. "I travelled to the United States of America in May 2025 to attend to some professional and personal matters. I am robustly healthy and fine, and I may soon conclude the task of my sojourn here", he said. Smuggling,as we all know is a global phenomenon that cannot be eradicated entirely but can be brougt to its barest minimum.As a testament to fact,the Crack Team of the Nigeria Customs Service,Federal Operations Unit,Zone 'A' led by AC Adahunse R.A,over the weekend intercepted a DAF Truck with Reg.Num: XT 223 EKY along Lagos Ibadan Expressway based on information of un-customs goods.Physical examination revealed 220 bags of smuggled foreign parboiled rice neatly concealed with cartons of Kerosene stoves,bales of bed sheets and other household items with the intention of evading customs law.The seized items has a duty paid value of Two Million,Seven Hundred and Thirteen Thousand,Four Hundred and Ninety One Naira {N2,713,491.00} only.
