Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Education has debunked reports trending on the social media in respect of a purported directive issued to Schools in Lagoss State to conduct Assembly in the Yoruba language on thursdays.A press release issued by the Ministry stted that ''the reports trending on social media that the government has directed that teaching and learning of Yoruba are now compulsory from Primary to Senior Secondary Schools {SS.III} as from next session is false and unfounded''.The statement said the clarification became necessary following stories on the social media which have been generating reactions and are capable of misleading the pupils,students,education stakeholders and the general public.The Education Ministry reassured the public that Lagos State Government does not implement policies without far-reaching consultations and communication with relevant stakeholders and therefore enjoined members of the public to disregard such stories trending on social media platforms.
