 Four people have died after a car was swept away at an overflowing bridge in the Makotopong River near Sebayeng. Police recovered the bodies after a blue Renault Kwid carrying five occupants was pulled into the river during heavy water flow on Sunday morning, 8 March 2026. One passenger escaped from the vehicle and alerted police and emergency services. Police say the car was travelling along the Madiga–Makotopong gravel road when it overturned at the flooded bridge and was dragged into the river. The Provincial Search and Rescue team recovered the first body on Sunday. The victim was identified as Lebapa Petrus Mochitele, 27, from Madiga Village. EMS personnel declared him dead at the scene. Search operations resumed on Monday with the SAPS Water Wing Unit, EMS Search and Rescue, the Fire and Rescue Department, and an EMS helicopter. Image may contain: 2 people, people sitting               The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has again assured Ekiti people that all the on going projects in the state would be completed before the end of his tenure.He gave the assurance while speaking at this year's edition of the Udiroko festival held at the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III.According to him, his developmental works in Ekiti especially in Ado would stand the test of time.He solicited the support of Ado people as the governorship election draws near saying he would bring his successor to the palace for the next year udiroko festival.Addressing the crowd, the Ewi Oba Rufus Adejugbe express appreciation to Governor Fayose for making Ado a befitting state capital.He called on Nigerian youths to embrace farming in order to solve the problem of unemployment while urging government at all levels to support them financially.The chairman of the occasion, Aare Afe Babalola congratulated Ado sons and daughters for witnessing another year.He thank Governor Fayose for making the development of Ado and the state his priority.
