 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Image may contain: 2 people, people sitting               The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has again assured Ekiti people that all the on going projects in the state would be completed before the end of his tenure.He gave the assurance while speaking at this year's edition of the Udiroko festival held at the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III.According to him, his developmental works in Ekiti especially in Ado would stand the test of time.He solicited the support of Ado people as the governorship election draws near saying he would bring his successor to the palace for the next year udiroko festival.Addressing the crowd, the Ewi Oba Rufus Adejugbe express appreciation to Governor Fayose for making Ado a befitting state capital.He called on Nigerian youths to embrace farming in order to solve the problem of unemployment while urging government at all levels to support them financially.The chairman of the occasion, Aare Afe Babalola congratulated Ado sons and daughters for witnessing another year.He thank Governor Fayose for making the development of Ado and the state his priority. The udiriko cultural festival marks the beginning of new Year in Ado Ekiti calendar.In attendance were the Governor of Gombe State Alahaji Ibrahim Dankwanbo, former Governors of Niger and Benue States Aliyu Babangida and Gabriel Swuswan, Deputy Governor of Rivers State, top government functionaries, as well as Ado sons and daughters from far and near.More photos below.
