 Morocco places provinces on highest alert as wildfire spreads Morocco has placed nine provinces at the highest wildfire alert level as blazes continued to intensify over the past week, with satellite data showing that more than 4,100 hectares (10,131 acres) have burned since the start of the year. Data from the European Commission-backed Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) showed that about 855 hectares (2,112 acres) burned over the past week, marking an increase from the previous week, Anadolu Agency reported. The system also detected 1,006 thermal anomalies across Morocco between Jan. 1 and Aug. 2, including 59 over the past week. Thermal anomalies are satellite-detected hotspots and do not necessarily represent separate wildfires, as the same fire may be detected more than once. AARE ONA KAKANFO CAP FITS GANI ADAMS-FAYOSE.

      Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has said the title of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland being conferred on the Leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams by the Alaafin of Oyo, Kabiyesi Iku Baba Yeye Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, is putting a round peg in a round hole.
Fayose said he has no doubt that the cap fits Adams going by the pedigree of the recipient of the prestigious title.
He stated this in a message to congratulate Adams on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi.
According to the governor, Oba Adeyemi made the right choice in the appointment of Adams as the Generalissimo of the Oyo Empire.
"In the Yoruba tradition, before a person is conferred with a chieftaincy title, he must have certain leadership qualities and the title of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is for that bold, courageous, exemplary man who burns with the zeal to defend our land and protect her interest. All these are not lacking in the character of Otunba Gani Adams.
" I also congratulate Iku Baba Yeye Oba Lamidi Adeyemi for making the right choice and being able to fill the vacancy that existed for nearly two decades after the demise of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola," he said.
Governor Fayose enjoined all Yoruba sons and daughters, both home and in the Diaspora, to support the new Aare Ona Kakanfo and defend and promote the interest of their race.He wished the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo a fruitful and successful tenure.One more photo below.
