 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs. AARE ONA KAKANFO CAP FITS GANI ADAMS-FAYOSE.

      Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has said the title of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland being conferred on the Leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams by the Alaafin of Oyo, Kabiyesi Iku Baba Yeye Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, is putting a round peg in a round hole.
Fayose said he has no doubt that the cap fits Adams going by the pedigree of the recipient of the prestigious title.
He stated this in a message to congratulate Adams on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi.
According to the governor, Oba Adeyemi made the right choice in the appointment of Adams as the Generalissimo of the Oyo Empire.
"In the Yoruba tradition, before a person is conferred with a chieftaincy title, he must have certain leadership qualities and the title of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is for that bold, courageous, exemplary man who burns with the zeal to defend our land and protect her interest. All these are not lacking in the character of Otunba Gani Adams.
" I also congratulate Iku Baba Yeye Oba Lamidi Adeyemi for making the right choice and being able to fill the vacancy that existed for nearly two decades after the demise of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola," he said.
Governor Fayose enjoined all Yoruba sons and daughters, both home and in the Diaspora, to support the new Aare Ona Kakanfo and defend and promote the interest of their race.He wished the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo a fruitful and successful tenure.One more photo below.
