 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ANAMBRA PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER EMERGES 2017 NIGERIA BEST TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

   Mr Okodo Nwoye, of Central School Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state won the award organized by the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.
Announcing his selection, the Director, Education Support Services in the Ministry, Mrs J. N Ibeh writing on behalf of the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu said that the award presentation ceremony will hold on Thursday, 5th of October 2017 at Eagle Square, Abuja during the World Teachers' Day celebration.
Nwoye's victory falls in line with the footsteps of the state born Roseline Nkemdilim Obi, a teacher at Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha who won the maiden edition of Maltina Teacher of the Year Award in 2015.
Speaking to ABS, the state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha said she is proud of Mr Nwoye and all the other hardworking teachers and staff in the State's Education System.Commissioner Omenugha explained that the national recognition of one of their teachers, is a clear manifestation of the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in the Education Sector aimed at sustaining excellence and high standards in the state.
